NX 8.5.3 - Inch to MM 1

Hello,

Is it possible to convert 'inch' file into 'mm' like '100 inch = 100mm' in nx
not like 1 inch = 25.4 mm.

Hello,

With file ug_convert_part.exe (default installation C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 8.5\UGII), you can convert inch file to metric and metric file to inch.
For example, if you type something like this in command prompt:
ug_convert_part.exe -in MyMetricPart.prt
you will convert metric part to inch. If you type -mm instead of -in, you will convert inch part to metric.
If you type just ug_convert_part.exe and press enter, you will get the list of switches for this command.

But to answer the OP's question, NO!

I suspect what happened is that someone started to create a model assuming that they were in a Metric Part file only to later discover that it was an Imperial Unit Part file instead, correct? I'm sorry, but there is nothing in NX which will correct this error made by the user. If he truly wants a Metric model with the proper units and parameters, he'll need to start over, being more careful next time when he starts a new Part file.

JRB is absolutely correct. I have to learn to read more carefully. Sorry.
Would it scale the body (transform/scale) help? You will get a new body (not associative), but you at least you don't have to model everything again.

Yes, you could run the units conversion program, which would give them a Metric instead of Imperial units file. Then remove all parametrics and scale the model by a factor of '1/25.4'. As you said, the parametrics would be gone but at least the geometric model itself would be saved.

In the "import" "file" there is a "scale" factor.
Give it a try.

When you change units on a Pro/Engineer file, you get 2 options.
One is to keep the same dimension: 10in = 10mm.
The second is to keep the same size: 1in = 25.4mm.

UG only has the same size convert option unless you do some scaling as has been mentioned.
Is the design so complex that it isn't worth starting over with the proper start file?
