I just got a new computer at work, and they are using the Quadro NVS graphics cards. I have only had experience with the Quadro FX series. Does this card work well with SW, or am I in for some trouble?

I did look on the SW website, but did not find any information, has this card even been tested with SW?

Thanks

This is the only card that is not support by SW. The Quadro NVS is basically used for stocker brokers, because you can have to 4 monitors running off the card, to watch stocks. Replace this card with a different one that supports PCI Express... I say that because I believe the NVS is a PCI express card.

Contact your VAR and they will tell you the same.

I had an NVS an yes you are in trouble. The NVS I had was not PCI express but I suggest swapping that card out soon. It will work but it will bring everything to a crawl and then you will have to shut down and restart just to clear it out.

Yes, from what I hear, you are in trouble.

I am not to familiar with the NVS line, but it seems they are little more than a rebranded GeForce. I think they are optomized for 2d display. They are NOT meant for 3d-CAD applications. From what I have heard, they perform very much like a GeForce in SWX (in other words, they will slow to a crawl after a few windows are opened up).

The only nvidia cards that SWX fully supports are the real Quadros (NOT THE NVS!). This is quite a shame as the 'Quadro NVS' nomenclature has produced confusion.

THey shouldn't have named it a Quadro, but rather GeForce NVS instead.

THe customer I dealt with had an Quadro NVS PCI Express card. I wasn't aware that made some that were not PCI Express.

yes, the NVS card I have is AGP.

I just started this job a few weeks ago, and this computer is a huge upgrade to the first one I had (1gig of ram over 512meg, Xeon 2.8 over a P3 1gig) I know how important it is to have a supported card. Now I have to find out what cards our other users have.

By the way, Scott, I just found out you must be our VAR (3DVision, that it)
