It seems my new system is having some of the same graphics issues my old system was having--only I've gone from an FX 500 to an FX 1400.

Issues include the intermittant blanking out of all dimensions from a sketch, losing edges in Shaded with Edges mode, and other similar things I'd expect from a graphics card that's not quite keeping up with everything.

My question is whether SolidWorks itself could be to blame, and a faster card won't necessarily fix the problem--or whether a faster card will definitely fix the problem.

I'm running the recommended drivers for the card, and am on SP 3.1 of 2006. I often have near nine SW windows open while working with three or more being assemblies. Assemblies often have less than 200 parts, many of which are repeated, some of which are complex forms.

Any ideas/suggestions or is anyone seeing similar results with nVidia cards?

That's what it's starting to sound like.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Perhaps 2007 will be better.

Now that this is all out in the open, I'd recommend contacting SolidWorks to ask for a fix. It's a strange thing to pay so much for a graphics card to be compatible with SolidWorks, only to have it function improperly with SolidWorks. (Maybe the graphics card approval system would have noticed this in all the certifications?)

Remember though, this is not a perfect world. Although the issue is new to 06, at least it doesn't result in crashes. To make sure every card, in every situation, for every software runs correctly is an impossibility. The variable between systems is too great. I agree the problem lies in SW, but I also understand the complexity of the situation.

Hi All,
Is anyone having problems with NVIDIA FX1300 cards?
We are scheduled to get new PC's with FX1300 cards when we
upgrade to SW2006 at the end of the month.

I'm having similar issues with single parts, subs, etc. But at my top level I was unable to view sketches or any other part geometry and it seems one part was not set to 'default display' under the 'component display' menu. Switched it back to 'default display' now everything's hunky dory (for now).
