numbering holes

Hi guys,

and sorry in advance if my english will seem not so good as i wanted!

a client of mine has got a problem: he order metal plate with holes on it, and the holes have to be numbered with a particular order, like the one you see in the picture

i tried with coordinates bur is not what i want... any suggestion of how to proceed?

If you just require the numbers to appear on a drawing, then the simplest method is to go to the menu bar and select Insert > Annotations > Note. Now select "No Leasder" in the Note's Properties pane (the one with the red X) and left click the mouse where you want the first number; a little text box will appear and you enter the required number and click the left mouse button to finish (don't press enter or you will get a new line in the note). Continue the numbering by just clicking the mouse again where you want the next number, edit the number and click, repeat until done then press Esc to end the command.

However, if you are producing the plates and the holes have to be cut in that order for some reason then I would re-order them in whatever CAM program was producing them. If you must have them appear in that order in the solid model's feature tree then use the hole wizard and treat each hole individually (they can all be selected from one sketch).

As Trevor wrote, add the numbers on the drawing.

As for machining order, leave it up to the machine shop.
Some type of job traveler or mfg doc should take care of it.

Firstly thanks for your answers

Yes, i can use the note, but the client has got more or less 400 items to numbered, and we are trying to find an automated solution.

but I'm figuring out that there's none... we have to put the numbers manually... uhm!

Judging by what you just said, you actually want to put the numbers on the finished product. So put the numbers on the solid model as a shallow extruded cut using a centreline or stick type text font, so that they will be on whatever output method you use for CAM, then get them put on when the holes are cut. Maybe laser cut plate and laser etched numbers
