What nozzle size should be used when cutting .50" mild steel using a 4kW Bystronic laser?

I'd say probably 1.2 or 1.5 and make sure the nozzle has a K on it but does not have an H on it. Be sure to use bystronic nozzles and other head parts.

what is the difference between the K and H for Bystronic?

K is for capacitve sensing, H is meant for high pressure You would want K only for capacitive height sensing but not H as you will not be using high pressure assist gas if this was helpful click on "like this post star it" Laserninja has a hell of a lead on me on the MVP list I need to catch up!

You could try the NK nozzles as well. They focus the stream of O2 better.
