Nozzle loads for vertical pressure vessel

Hi everyone,

I have calculated nozzle loads (Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, Mz) for a vertical vessel with nozzle in a top of the vessel. I have obtained calculations from a vessel manufacturer with "Loads to be carried by welds, per UG-41 (b)(1) and Figure UG-41.1sketch (a)". I understand these are shear loads welds W, W1-1, W2-2, W3-3 can withstand.
How I can calculate what shear loads my nozzle loads will result? I need this to see if my nozzle loads are acceptable or not.

curtis2004, there's more to nozzle loading than shear in the welds. You need to consider as well stresses imposed on the shell section, head, whatever. One way is with a WRC-107 type analysis, limited as it is. FEA is another.

If you truly have your three forces and three moments, resultant shear loads on the welds could presumably be found thru a mechanics of materials approach, but it ain't the whole story.
