Normand (NECO) DC Shunt Motor 1

I have a friend who has a lathe which uses a Normand Elec (NECO)DC Shunt Motor as its drive - 0.25HP; 1.5 Amp; 1400 RPM; Frame 5; Cont Rated; Ser Number 1223936 not sure if it 6 or a letter as its very hard to distinguish.

There are no electrical diagrams for the AC / DC Convertor which is the major issue.

There are four cabled feeding from the motor back to the DC Convertor.

Would like some information on the DC Convertor and the subsequent connections to the motor

Better if you give us ID data for the AC/DC converter (rectifier).

Two thick cores and two thin cores perchance? The thick cores are the armature, and the thin ones are the field. 1.5A sounds about right for the armature of a 180V industrial motor, but there are other voltages which were standard-ish a long time ago. You are short of some information if it is a shunt machine. Any chance of a photo of the nameplate?
