Hi,

I am new to FEM.
I am working on a FEM problem using the Timoshenko Beam theory. Unlike the Bernoulli-Euler beam theory in which you have only the Bending Stiffness matrix, here you have both the Bending Stiffness and the Shear Stiffness.

[K] = [Kb] + [Ks]

And [Kb] and [Ks] are as like this:

[Kb] = EI/L [……..]

[Ks] = KGA/L […….]

How can I NORMALIZE the dimensions and add them together?

The same problem for the torsional and rotatory Mass Matrices:

[M] = [Mt] + [Mr]

[Mt] = mL [………]

[Mr] = Rho*IL [………]

Thank you very much,

Obtain a FE textbook, such as those by Zienkiewicz or Gallagher or Bathe.

You'll probably have to read it as well.
