I was wondering if anyone has seen any work on nonlinear buckling of an extensible cantilever column under any sort of tip-concentrated force.

Many thanks.

I'm not sure how widely published the details of the buckling analysis is, but Dr. Paul McElroy of McElroy Science and Engineering in Grant's Pass, Oregon did some work on "inflatable" cantilever columns for space applications. I seem to recall one being on installed on the space station, I believe. You can do an internet search on Dr. McElroy or on Rigidizable on Command (ROC), which was the resin system developed by Adherent Technologies in New Mexico (maybe Arizona?).
