I have an application where a pipe has a component threaded onto the OD of the pipe. The ID of the pipe is available but the rest of the stationary pipe is not exposed. This pipe is similar to a 2" sch 80 steel pipe. The inside of the pipe is slightly rough, but I cannot allow it to be distorted or damaged.

I would like to find a tool that fits inside the open end of the pipe and uses friction to grab the pipe and allow us to untorque the component threaded on the outside.

If such a tool exists I would greatly appreciate pointers on the name of the tool or who supplies such an item.

Thanks,

David

Google "Internal pipe wrench", and I think you'll find what you're looking for. Your local plumbing supply house should have them.

Thank you, those search terms are turning up pages of useful options.

Funny how you can search on *nearly* the exact same search words and never come across a single useful hit. There's just that much stuff out there.
