The traditional solution is foamglas. Ew- not fun stuff to work with. Crumbly, crushes easily, nasty-smelling, and makes an extremely irritating noise when you handle it. If the temperature is below about 100 C, you can also get away with closed cell foamed rubber products such as Armaflex.
