Hi everybody,
There are some naming in industry with confusing aspect (my favorite is "Car seal"). One of them, I think, is non-slam check valve. It seems by selecting low response time, it actually slam on the seat. But my conception is that maybe it prevents slamming on the protected upstream equipment (say, pump or compressor). Am I right?

Non-slam check valve are designed to close quickly and thereby prevent a large water hammer from slamming the check valve closed. When the valve closes quickly, there is much less energy applied to close the check valve so that it is not slamming.

Thanks bimr for your reply. I should be grateful if you (or someone) answer following questions:
1- Is there any literature about non-slam check valve?
2- How it is verified as a non-slam?
3- How closing time is measured in the factory?
