Hi Guys - Is any body doing non-linear simulation on wheels yet? This will be for the impact.

Thanks!

We are not required to perform an FEA impact by any of our customers, so up to now it's all been for curiosity's sake. We also haven't correlated the FEA results with real-world results to see if we're even close on the stress/strain.

Wow! I've been working at this wheel company for x number of years and we've never done a correlation yet; although, we correlated our stress values and distribution vs. actual performance test by just comparing FEA results to pass no-pass performance lab reports. I’m sure we will pull out the strain gage someday and conduct a real correlation, but for now this is working for this people.

Greg – What solver you’re using for your non-linear simulation?

Thanks!

You have misunderstood me. The people who I know who are doing it use Nastran.

Cheers
