what are advantages of " no tube in window region" of heat exchanger ?

Normally NTIW baffles are used to address concerns about flow-induced vibration because they eliminate the long unsupported tube spans in the window region, plus the design allows you to place intermediary support baffles (both ends cut) in between the segmental baffles.

The disadvantage is that they require a larger diameter shell to accomplish the same heat transfer.
