I encounter a strange thing when doing a simple structural analysis with 2D quad8 element using Patran to do FE modelling. I'm able to get a soln when I have a coarse mesh size (the autocal in Patran) but when I reduce the mesh size to smaller, there's no soln.
Can anybody tell me what might be the problem to this? and also if there's any proposed soln? Thanks a lot!
