Hi,
I am using an example in Patran 2008_r1 to get some familiarity with how the software works. However, when i run the analysis, there is no results file created. I cannot see any .xdb file and thus stuck on how to proceed. Am all new to this program....any tips or help will be most appreciated. I've checked online forums, tried the configuration file..but am not sure what to change as my directory does not have a MSc Nastran folder (Nastran, structural).

Thank you

Could be any of about a bazillion things.

You'll most likely have a problem in your model.

Check the .f06 file.

As ferrryscott said, open the .f06 located in the directory you saved your db file to, and search for "Warning" or "Fatal" messages. If you happen to find any of these two messages, take note of them and their numbers and use Google to find information regarding the messages.

An example of an error message would be,

USER FATAL MESSAGE 9050 (SEKRRS)
^^^ RUN TERMINATED DUE TO EXCESSIVE PIVOT RATIOS IN MATRIX KLL.
^^^ USER ACTION: CONSTRAIN MECHANISMS WITH SPCI OR SUPORTI ENTRIES OR SPECIFY PARAM,BAILOUT,-1 TO
CONTINUE THE RUN WITH MECHANISMS

After some research, you will find this is a problem regarding unconstrained rigid body motions.
