I have an application that require the use of helicoil inserts. The part will be submerged in seawater (it will be installed on a underwater vehicle). Would Nitronic 60 be a good choice? The screws are SS316. I need high strength as well, so Phosphor-Bronze may not be enough.

I am in talk with them but I am still uncertain. Their manager recommended Primer-Free II coated inserts. No news on the Nitronic 60 inserts yet however.

According to literature I have Nitronic 60 will exhibit crevice corrosion pitting attack in seawater, and certainly 316 stainless steel screws will be even more susceptible.
