TKAL- your project sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about? Is the liquid nitrogen to be continuously replenished as with an open cooling system?
I will admit, I am a huge computer geek for trying this out. But oh well.
I believe that the next setp in extreme computer cooling will be immersion. A few people have tryed this with medeoker results. The only successful one that I have seen is not very mobile and wastes Fluorinert, a 3M product.
I am planning on making a plexiglass case with a volume of about 3 us gallons, motherboard and any cards attatched to it will be suberged. I am looking at cooling the FC off with either liquid nitrogen, my understanding of which is that it evaporates giving you a cold enviroment. I am looking for a closed system where LN2 is the refrigerant. The cost of which should be rather low I dont need to make insane amounts of the stuff. I was planning on using FC-77, but if I use LN2 I MAY need to use a diffrent FC. Dont want that stuff freezing on me now do I?
My main goal in this is to make it very powerful in its cooling abilty and light enough that I can tote it to lan parties and show my stuff. Bragging rights.
