SA-194 does not have Ni and Cr composition requirement for Gr 4, neither Ni composition requirement for Gr7. However, the MTR showed these compositions. Is any percentage acceptable for Gr4 and Gr7 or this has to be rejected?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a copy of ASME SA 194? In Section 6 of this Specification it requires an analysis of each heat of steel, and the analysis shall conform to the chemical composition requirements in Table 1.

A product analysis may be used by the purchaser from a sample nut, and shall meet the product analysis requirements for the Grade ordered in Table 1. Product analysis tolerances are found in ASME SA 29.

In ASME SA 29, in Table 1 for Grade Designations and Chemical Compositions of Alloy Steel Bars, the maximum amount of Ni is 0.25%, and chromium is 0.20% if not specified.
