NFPA 79 section 12.6.1 states that 18 AWG is the smallest conductor size that can be used for power circuits (16 or 14 AWG may be required if certain conditions are not met). What constitutes a "power circuit"?
We power an HMI via a 22 AWG 3-wire multiconductor cable (fused at 3A), which would appear to be in violation. However the same cordset type (M12 connector) is commonly used for sensor powering and communication. Surely these are not all in violation??
What am I missing here?
