Anyone know where I can download a copy of this standard. Working on an existing system that was installed around this time.

I guess to state the obvious - have you tried calling NFPA?

Another option might be a local inspector.
 
Try contacting your local friendly fire sprinkler contractor. They usually have libraries of outdated standards.
 
If you join NFPA (not sure of the cost), they have archived standards available. Not sure if they go back that far, but you could try.
