Hello all,
I am fairly new to solid works. I would like to create a separate coordinate system on an existing part. It would be located elsewhere on the part. How would I accomplish this.
Thanks much
To my knowledge you can not create a new coordinate system. I'm sure you can achieve your end goal just not in this method. If you detail what you are trying to do I'm sure we can suggest a more SW friendly approach. I hope this helps.
You can't really do a whole lot with it. You can get COG/Inertia calculations based on it, or you can use it as the base coord system to export to parasolid, etc. so that when it is re-imported the origin is located where the coord system was.
Absolutely CorblimeyLimey,
I am starting with an assembly that has a brake drum as one of the components. There is an item that is located about the O.D. of the drum that needs to rotate about the center of the drum. I was thinking of locating a coordinate system in the center of the drum so I could pick a vector to rotate the part about it.
Thanks again
