Motors up to 1000 HP have CSA & UL approval for operation in Class I, Group D and Class II, Group E, F & G. THIS MOTORS ARE DESIGNED AND APPROVED FOR APPLICATION IN HAZARDOUS ENVIROMENTS HAVING CERTAIN EXPLOSIVE GASES OR MATERIALS PRESENT.
IEC Ex-proof motors are classified like:
EE Xe II"Increased safety" location Types 1 and 2.
EE de II c "Increased safety of terminal box location 1 and 2. and Dust explosion PROTECTION (LOCATION 21 AND 22).
The first to do is to determine the motor´s enviroment work then clasiffied in acordance with NEMA Class I and Group With this you can find the equivalent IEC Ex-Proof motor.
