NEi Nastran Optimization

Does anyone have experience using NEi Nastran for optimization, specifically using the Advanced Optimization module HEEDS?

If so, have you used it to change parameters used for geometry dimensions, number of geometry features, and other parameters from the CAD model or just to change parameters within Nastran, like material or shell thickness?

I am interested in how seamless the communication was between CAD/FEA/HEEDS software packages.
