Hello,
I'm working on an LED product development where we wish to adhere a flexible magnetic tape to printed circuit boards (modules) and also to power conditioning sub-components. The modules are made of fibre reinforced polyester (ie. fibreglass) and are very light. They come in 21" and 42" lengths. We would apply the flexible magnetic strip to the modules via two sided adhesive tape that is pre-mounted on the magnetic strip. Simply peel and stick. The same notion would be used to apply small magnetic sheets to our electrical sub-components.
After application, our modules and electrical sub-components would simply be stuck to steel housings. Consider your typical fluorescent ceiling fixture.
I would like to develop a specification to approach vendors and get quotes from manufacturers in China (where our factory is located). The problem is that I do not know enough about magnets to be sure that I would be asking for the right things if I was to develop the spec myself. Seems there are many ways to create these magnets. Concerns:
1. Want to make sure that quality is good (ie. adequate holding strength, proper adhesive, etc...) such that the product performs well over many years (ie. 10 - 20yrs)
2. Want an economical product but not so cheap that quality is compromised.
I would consider paying someone a fee to develop a short spec.
