I am buildina an addition onto my home and I need to know how large of a microlam beam I will need to support a 12'* 15'* 8" wall.

Your local hardware store should have a catalog made by Truss Joist McMillin that you could describe what you have and they might be able to tell you what you need.

What is the wall made of - concrete, frame, etc. and
does this wall carry any roof or floor loads???

If it carries a roof load - where do you live?? What is the snow load?

Does this wall sit across the beam or does it cross perpendicular to it??

Go to and find a contact for your area. If I wasn't an engineer, I would double check a couple of places, have someone at tjm run it by their computer program and ask someone to check by catalog as well. Know everything the beam is to support before you talk to anyone.
They will be helpful.
