I would like to show a cylindrical assembly in an exploded view. Think of something similar to a tube of lip balm with a label that fully wraps the whole assembly. Would you show it in a wrapped form in line with the cylindrical axis? or as a flattened view above the assembly showing that it intends to act as a final over lay ? Please venture opinions/ experiences on how to illustrate the final label. There are components that are designed into the wall of the cylinder that need to be shown exploded radially away from the wall. Any opinions appreciated.

How I have created them at other companies; show the assy with the label wrapped. Show the label on its own drawing indicating printing artwork.

It comes down to your company's processes, how would the drawings work there.

I would show the label in the wrapped state too, but perpendicular to the cylindrical axis of the tube. I think that shows that the part needs to be wrapped around the tube rather than the tube being inserted into "something".

I agree with MM. Perpendicular to the tube works best.

Thank you, I appreciate the comments. That sounds like the best idea to me. I don't think I've come across any drawings of this type before.
