OK so I got the basic yet primative advice on exploding (which was great... thanks to everybody who helped with the info) but I need some more advice.
OK here goes, I have many parts within this assy that are concentric to each other with within the assy. Now as I explode parts through various "explode steps" I can't seem to get the concentric parts to align "concentrically"

In other programs you can explode a part and then explode other concentric parts (and edges for that matter) and they would explode properly. So lets say I have a cube with a hole in it and it is exploded along the Y and X axis so now it is in a location/plane/axis different from where it was originally. now I want to explode a dowell pin which fit inside the cube with the hole. now with another program I had you could pick the cube as the part you wanted to base your explosion from then choose the hole as a concentric relation and then choose the dowell pin and the part would explode the pre-defined distance and be aligned concentrically with the hole in the cube even if the cube was on a different axis and location.... now I have played around with solidworks trying to figure this out but have had no luck. Any advice???

Thanks

I have found that if I explode related components together before exploding individual components I have more success. For instance if you explode your pin and cube together in one step, then explode the pin in the next. Another thing to remember if you explode in two directions with the cube (X and Y as stated) your pin has to explode in the same two directions the amount the cube did plus more in the axis of the pin to show it properly. If you explode the pin and cube together and then the pin in the direction of the pins axis, it should look good. (unless of course I am totally misunderstanding your example).
