Need help with reading in files and outputting images.

I am somewhat new to Matlab and have looked for help all over the place including all of the Mathworks reference material(which isn't real good for real world examples). What I am trying to do is read in a series of files that are in numerical order and contain three columns of data. I then want to take the data and produce a scatter plot that is then written out to a file(jpeg) for each file. I have worked on this and I can get some parts to work from the command line but as a whole I think I need to start over with some better direction. If anyone knows of some code or location of some good examples, I would greatly appreciate the assistance.

P.S. I have searched the Mathworks file share site and can't find what I really need.
