Hi, I am getting estimates for soundproof windows this week, and am getting conflicting info from 2 companies. Company A says that I need 1/2" laminated glass (the most expensive they offer) because the thickest glass will block out the most noise.

Company B says all I need is 1/4" laminated glass because "the actual noise decrease obtained is proportional to the dead air space, between the original and secondary windows. Because of the acoustical properties required in a soundproofing interior window, overly thick glass is actually LESS effective than the properly sized glass that they use in their patented windows."

HELP! Which company is accurate? There is a $400 difference per window between the two companies, so I'd greatly appreciate an engineering explanation ASAP, thanks!
