I am a mechanical engineer working on a manufacturing project and need helps in chemistry. I am trying to identify a substance that will reflect the invisible spectrum of light but not the visible spectrum. The substance shall be in a thick liquid state in room temperature. Could anyone help or point me to the right direction. Many thanks.

Any idea finding a substance that will not dry up and appears dark? Thank you very much.

I think you may want to try the manufacturing and materials forums.
PS which invisible part of the spectrum: IR or UV?

Thank you for your tips; I will try the other board.

It is the IR.

Water will absorb IR and transmit UV light.

How much IR reflectance do you need?
Mirror-like or sufficient to detect the surface?

And for the non-reflected visible light: Do you want that absorbed or transmitted, or doesn't it matter?
