I have a symbol on a mechanical drawing that I can't identify. It is a circle with a slash through it. What does it represent? The drawing is dealing with measurements in mm for length/width etc.
Not to be confused with Greek letter Phi by our more scientifically minded friends.
"The diameter symbol in engineering, ?, is often incorrectly referred to as "phi". This symbol is used to indicate the diameter of a circular section, for example ?14 means the diameter of the circle is 14 units."
Now that we've destroyed the purpose of stars on eng-tips, one for Tick since he actually inserted the proper symbol and made his statement definitively beforemonkeydog
Yea, Yea Tick did give the right answer, but he gave no backup documentation.
Sympathy star, random star, stolen star, make no difference to me, when I collect enough, I am trading them in for one of those foo-foo coffee's at Buckies.
