My firm is looking to purchase a structural analysis program to model med/light commercial and residential buildings. We currently have a program that analyzes wood frame structures so we're looking for a program that will do steel and concrete structures as well. I have experience using Risa2D and SAP2000. I'm also looking into STAAD.Pro as well but I have no personal experience with that program.

I'm just wondering what program most other structural engineers prefer and why they would recommend one over the other.

You could check out this thread.. faq724-1192

Also do a name search for each software title. I know these have all beens discussed here on occasion.
