The application deals with a new design for coil springs in light vehicles.

Im curious as to what types of metal matrixes are used in industry? (i.e brake rotors made from a mix of alumina ceramic bits and A3xx series aluminum...does anyone make this type of metal matrix?

Also, if there is anyone working with composite springs could I have information pertaining to the strength, elongation, and fatigue properties of those springs?

The small usage of MMC composites in automotive is the SiC reinforced cast aluminum, with 356 alloy as the matrix. Not exactly what you would want for a spring. For a spring, either leaf or coil, a fiber reinforced MMC would be desirable, with the reinforcement running the axis of the spring wire or leaf. Anything out there is going be more expensive than even titanium.
