I have a 8 inch diameter fire water pipe buried in the ground at our plant. The pipe is ACP asbestor cement pipe. We're creating a bypass of the line where will need to cut and end cap the pipe in two locations.

Someone had suggested that the pipe could be capped with a mechanical joint end caps with concrete restraint end blocks. Is this correct procedure? Does anyone a manufacturer I could get more information on mechancial joint end caps for ACP pipe?

THanks

I believe Johns Mannville still makes AC pipe. The proceedure is correct. The plug or cap is inserted on the pipe and restrained with the appropriate qty. of concrete.

In South Africa we use what we call a Viking Johnson End Cap. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Viking Johnson Coupling, but all it is is a blanked off Viking Johnson coupling. You can contact Klamflex Pipe Coulpings on +2711-762-5326, speak to Steve Channing.

Georg Fischer Waga B.V. in the Netherlands is producing the end caps you need. These type of joints and end caps are widely used in Europe. You will find them at
