Hi,

Has anybody tried laser welding of Titanium and Stainless Steel using Nd@YAG laser(2.5kw)? Thickness of two metals = approx 1.0mm, circumferential seam weld.
Would appreciate any advice on whether this is possible and if so any useful info from experiences!

Titanium and steel are both weldable by YAG, especially 2.5kW YAG. How well they weld depends on what they are... austentitic, ferric, martensitic, or duplex stainless steels. Same goes for the Titanium... what ASTM grade it is. I don't know about the compatibility of the two, but both are weldable using a 'Power Beam Process', such as Nd:YAG welding. I think the Titanium is pretty partial to certain specs on the shield gas, but I'm not sure. Here are a few links with more info:

Good luck!!
