Does anyone have a better explanation of the basic wind velocities for the mountain regions
In the IBC code used in NC, It states that wind velocities are to apply to all mountain tops, crests, knobs or peaks as named on the USGS Quadrangle maps.
Moreover, goes on to say
Effect of the 130 mph wind is to extend downward from the crest for 200 ft or to the controlling elevation for a 120 mph wind, whichever is lesser
To me this is confusing.
Looking for some input.
