Natural Gas Line/equipment Identification

Is there a universal color code or symbol for identifying natural gas lines and equipment such as overhead heaters?

Not sure where you are looking to place or find the markings, on the ground or on a drawing?

Underground utilities marks oil and gas with yellow paint on the surface to deliniate the location of buried pipelines. electrical is marked with red, communication lines with orange, water with blue, and sewer with green.

We are wanting to mark the actual pipes and heaters in a warehouse. We wanted to get thte proper color coding so we do not violate any OSHA or other agency regs.

The problem is that are forklift drivers are slow learners. They repeatedly try to move 18 ft tall stacks of product under 15 ft of heaters. It didn't make for a good day; but on the other hand, I had never seen a 1 1/12 pipe snapped in half before. If it had been me, I think the sound of twisting metal and falling debris would have been enough for me to stop to see what was happening.

you need to send those drivers packing! You are assuming they will actually look up to see what's there. Why not place a sign at eye level to warn of overhead obstacles?

I don't think marking the pipes are going to help with those drivers!

I just did a Google search which yeilded 360,000 hits in 0.45 sec. for products and information regarding pipe marking.
