Natural frequencies and Finite Element Analysis

Has anyone seen literature comparing natural frequencies of fluid-filled tanks (or any solid interactions with fluid)predicted using the finite element method with experimental data?

I have been looking for similar literature regarding the natural frequency of fluid filled tanks. The best resourse I have found so far is Algor's web site.

Algor's Mechanical Event Simulation software does account for the inertia and its influence on a structures loading, however I am also interested in the sloshing fluid in an open tank, which is a transient analysis with a free surface, which I believe algor is not capable of.

You may find some literature on algor's web site .... .... you can search through the technical paper written regarding the hydrodynamic effects of fluid on a structure.

I found bttam's website is very useful, thank you! But why don't U mention about the FE software used to analyze the rectangular tank?I will try to model it using Pro/E. I want to analyze it but which is the best software to use?I only have Algor,MSC/Nastran and ProMechanica in my computers.












 
Dear Cadbury_Girlno

This is a research work on finite element modeling and allgorithm, I have to write my element subroutine and solution subroutine to incorporate into XFEAP ( an extended version of FEAP from Berkeley). The study of liquid sloshing for Tuned Liquid Damper applications has been conducted by many universities but up to now, based on my experience and my searching on internet, i can not find any comments on the succeful applying of comercial softwares on this topic.

If you can find something else please let me know. I am very interesting on this topic.

I am familiar with some applications of transient (sloshing) behavior using ABAQUS/Explicit. The capability is definitely there, and there have been some successful uses of it discussed publicly. Go to the website and search on "sloshing".
I have also seen another presentation on this subject, also using ABAQUS, but is not available in the public domain.
