When in model space I use zoom extents to view the image in there.
Generally, I choose the pulldown for iso view to see if anything is drawn in 3D. Once satisfied, then I pick the top view icon to return the image in a flat plan view. I use that in stead of view previous.

What occurs is a twist in the image. I have to undo, undo undo to get back where I was.
Does this indicate a corruption from an imported drawing file. Or is there a setting I'm over looking. This is for AutoCAD 2000.
Any ideas what causes this? Its' the first time I came across this anomaly.
Thanx. RW Frank

Hmm, try going to view dialogue box, then click tab 'orthographic...' and make sur that the 'relative to' pull down is on 'world' and not a saved UCS - if it this is the case then the plan view your after will be relative to this UCS and not world ucs which is what you want. You can quickly test this b4 trying iso view and just clicking on the plan button.

Thanks for the callback. I tried your suggestion and you are correct. What I'm after is the world UCS. It appears the inherited 2D dwg.file was drawn bizarrely using a relative UCS. The image looks correct in papaer space w/the titleblock but, I now know that's a fooler.
My fix is laborious:
I setup World UCS draw a line, select and align all these objects to the line. After this little execrise I can rock an' roll to finish the job. I had hoped there was an easier method to my dilemma. Thank you for your input. It cast light on another overlooked issue.
