NAFEMS's presence in US

Hi All,
I just came to know about the organization NAFEMS through this forum. Can somebody fill me in on what is the presence of this organization across the industries in the US?

Is it value-add to become a certified Registered Analyst?
Are their training courses good?

Is it accepted in the Automotive Industry as well?
(sorry it's not a technical question..)

I am in the aerospace industry, so not sure how relevant my comments are to automotive. From what I have heard, most people seem pleased with their training from NAFEMS. This is based on internet observations.

In the aircraft industry, there does not seem to be much discussion about NAFEMS. I have never heard of anyone with their certification. Few practicing engineers have heard of it and less recognize it as something that might be valuable.

When I was on the space side, they did a lot more FEM and more people were familiar with it, but it still was not a big deal. Again, just my observations.

Thank you for your feedback.
So it looks like it is not well known even in the professional communities?
From website, looks like it is based in Europe, so maybe that is why it is not big in the US..
Also, I get a feeling that the certification is more for code developers, not for end users.
Does anyone have any comment on that?

I think Nafems would be disappointed by that comment, since the intention is to reach out to the users of FEA not to the developers! But I see where you are coming from. The major vendors are members, but this is more of a marketing ploy IMHO. Being a member would bring some degree of kudos, credibility and so on to their products.

Certification can't hurt you. True, most managers have never heard of NAFEMS. But, if you offer up your certification as proof of your ability with some gentle explanation, they should be able to see the value. OTH, no HR monkey is going to put your resume to the top of the pile because if it either.
