What is the difference between mv for settlement calcs and the Cc/1+e0 & Cr/1+e0 method? Is mv used for normally consolidated soils and the latter used when there has been some OCR effects and a preconol pressure? Any clarifications would be great

I suggest you pick up an introductory soils text. Mostwill discuss this issue.

Most US textbooks don't even mention mv. They only talk about Cc. Hence my question to the forum.. ..

Check out page 59 of Bowles' Foundation Analysis and Design, 5th Edition (a readily available US textbook that is referenced by many. Then reference the other pages of book section 2.10. Can also see page 227 of Terzaghi Peck and Mesri (1995).
