Hi there,
I am a reserch (Electro-mech-aero)engineer and i have to deal with more complex real-world problems e.g. motor-gen set, actuator, hydraulic systems, MEMS, Aero-dynamics to impact/crash analysis.Looking for a software bundle that can fullfill the requirements.

-Price no bar!

i've shortlisted the soft. packages that i thing it can serve the purpose. But furthor info. regarding other soft. combination and your imvaluable opinion is required.

options
1. Ansys Multiphysics + Ansys LS-dyna (+ Ansys CFX) ?
2. Msc Nastran + msc dytran + msc marc + compitable
Electromech solver?
3. Msc VisualNastran 4D + msc dytran + msc marc +
compitable Electromech solver?
4. Nei Nastran + Ls-dyna/Abaqus-explicit or any other
impact solver + compitable Electromech solver?
5. Abaqus/Standard +Abaqus/Explicit + compitable Electro-
mech solver?

Thanks,
-Bhags

Bhags,

Look back at previous threads on FEA solver preferences and you'll see this is a question that opens up a myriad of opinions ! Here are some comments that might help in your decision :-

a) Options 1, 2&3 can provide you with electromagnetic capability in a full coupled form (eg electro-thermal-mechanical) without the need for additional software.

b) Ansys/Dyna is an Ansys interface with 'standard' LS-Dyna3D.

c) MSC Dytran includes some cute SPH fluids that are useful for some real world applications.

I have no experience of Abaqus or NEI/Nastran but I have recently specified MSC Marc over Ansys as the latter simply couldn't cope with the complex non-linear contact with friction problem I have. I'm now working on real world problems for the oil industry and previously for automotive and aerospace.

Enjoy the replies !
