Greetings!

My company is faced with developing the math model for a new vehicle. We are looking at the MSC.ADAMS software for the dynamic respose calculations and simulation.

We might also be interested in their aircraft modules for other projects.

Has anyone out there used the ADAMS products in the aircraft industry? I know they are "good" at landing gear simulation and design, but they also have a "solver" solution that develops the equations of motion on its own, something we've done by hand already.

It looks promising, but I thought I'd ask around for others opinions, especially if you've used the software before.

Not aircraft, but I'm involved in using ADAMS (courtesy of Jon Webb of MIRA.co.uk) for the dynamic simulation of truck handling. I didn't realise they could import from CFD packages yet.

I'm guessing the technique goes like this: use an implicit code, like NASTRAN to perform modal analysis for superelement formulation. The CFD would then be used to provide lift/drag and moment data for each mode shape at various speeds (I would assume linear - ie no stalling). ADAMS is an explicit formulation, which could (for example) check the linear dynamics of the aircraft in different manouvres. Good for developing control algorithms too, i would have though.

Don't know if this helps, but I'll keep an eye on this thread to find out...
