Moving parts

I'm new in 3D modeling, I just started using Inventor yesterday, I'm very used to AutoCAD, right now I want to know how to move one part, let's say that it is a circular cylinder, from the center point of one side to the center of a cube, I haven't been able to do it. Another question, once you move it, How can I make them the same part if they aren't, thanks for your time and help, greetings from Mexico.

130873, You must use an Assembly file (.iam) to move two or more parts around. First, create the cube in one part file (.ipt) then save it. Open another new part file and create the cylinder then save. Open a new assembly file (.iam) then select "place component" on your tool bar. Browse for the cube file then insert it into your assembly. Because the cube was the first part you placed, it is grounded meaning it cannot move. To unground a part, simply right click on it and click on the word "grounded". Place the cylinder in the same way you placed the cube. With both parts in the assemby now it's time for constraints. Use the "Place Constraints" tool to finish the assembly. Hope this helps!

Just to add to what ccoon said...

Unless you model them as one part, you can't turn them into one part. You CAN make them an assembly, which is the way to go.

If your experience is only with AutoCAD, you'll have fun getting used to constraints. Don't worry. It gets better with some practice.

You can make them 1 part after making the assembly show what you want. Just derive the assembly into a new part file. any edits to the original two part files automatically update the new joined part.
