We have an aluminum cover 70" wide x 200" long attached that we want to attach v-groove wheels to make it easier to move. The cover weighs 1000#. The center of the new v-rails will be 2" off the side of the cover. The cover moves with the 70" side going on the machine direction, the 200" side is in the cross direction.

The new V-groove wheels are 4" dia, 2" wide with a V shape in the middle to ride on an angle.

My question is what should the dia. of the axle be to handle the weight of the cover plus up to 2000 lbs of people that stand on the cover?

If your cover is exposed to sunlight or other heat source you should consider using the angle guide rail on one side of the cover only and running the opposite side on flat track to accommodate the thermal expansion of the cover.

You should check with the v-groove wheel manufacturer on the people-moving part. The wheels are probably not approved for use in this application.
