This is simple but I cant do it.

I changed my mouse to left handed using the mouse properties in control panel. After a couple of months I wanted to switch back to right handed and that was no problem (fill the box or empty it). But now when I restart the machine it defaults to left handed which drives me nuts - easy to change but I have to do it every time I restart, which seems rather silly.

Anybody have any idea how I can fix the problem?

If you go to start-run and type in "regedit" and search for "swapmousebuttons" you will find it under the "control panel" directory and manually change the value to 0 or 1. 0 and 1 basically stands for yes and no, I am not sure which is which. Change the value and reboot to see if it works. Before changing, it might be good to save a copy of the registry, just in case.

You're probably seeing the results of an over-zealous security operation, and your system restore is 'mending' your registry each time you set it. Change your mouse setting in Control Panel, and then set a new system restore point.

Good Luck
