We've been operating SW2006 for ~ 4 weeks now, and have had many unusual and annoying problems cropping up. Today I used the measure command and now my mouse cursor is stuck on the "measure" cursor. It appears in all of my open parts and assemblies, and only changes to the "pencil" when I start a new sketch and activate a drawing command (line, circle ...)and soon as I close the drawing command it returns to the "measure" cursor.
The cursor is the normal arrow while over any of the tool bars, command manager or feature manager.
The file size of the 3 parts are 312kb, 798kb & 154kb respectively, while the assembly file size is 411kb.

Other annoying issues that have occurred with 2006 (besides crashing once a day!) are
1) Dimensions randomly non re-sizing while zooming (in parts & assemblies).
2) While dimensioning I cannot see where the dimension will be placed, and it only appears after I have entered a value or accepted the default value.
3) Existing dimensions will not appear when I try to edit a sketch, unless I hold down the left mouse button and drag the cursor over the entire sketch, and as I drag the cursor over the dimensions they will start re-appearing.

None of these problems occur on a regular basis and I'm not able to consistantly get them to repeat.

This was a new install and I have run the repair wizard twice since the new install, but not since this latest issue popped up.

I've been working with our VAR, but they have not been able to duplicate these problems.

Anyone else suffering through similar issues, have any suggestions??

The only solution is the standard solution to any computer problem, close the program and re-start.

This is getting old!

Thanks

Did you tell your VAR which video driver you were using?

If you did, I suggest you look for another VAR. All your listed "annoying issues" are classic video card/driver related problems & should have been diagnosed in the same time it took Scott ... 7 minutes.

BTW, when was the last time you updated your driver? I'm suprised you haven't had problems before SW06.

Thanks for you help.

Most of these issues started late last week.

We switched to SW just this past May and purchased all new hardware at the same time. We had no issues with 2005, but started having minor glitches with 2006.
Our VAR has recently changed the way they handle support from your initial contact being a phone call, to a website based portal. Once you get a call (usually 2-3 hours) they handle everything very well.

Our IT department is supposed to keep everything updated but they frequently don't, usually giving the standard boilerplate response of, " Oh yeah, you have the latest version."
I've finally received approval to be able to download and install updates for our group.

I downloaded and installed the latest driver this morning and so far so good.

Let us know what the outcome is. #2 has been happening to us off and on since we've upgraded.

I installed the latest driver for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400
(7.1.8.4) and problem #3 still occurs, although it's only once or twice a day instead of 8-10 per day.
Issues # 1 & 2 seemed to have been solved.

I'm working on installing SP1.0 today.
