We are a small design house specializing in injection moulds. We are currently in search of a new design package. We've looked at Think3 w/addin K-mold, and Solidworks w/addin Moldworks. Also concidering Imold for Solidworks.

In desperate need of an unbiased opinion. [pc2]

Thanks

Go with the Imold for Solidworks you'll never be sorry. SW is about the next best thing when comparing it to ProE but at a fraction of its cost.

UG NX and MoldWizard.

Look at what other large injection mold houses use.
Huskey, Caco-Pacific, Tech-Mold use UG.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

DonCarlitos,

SW and Pro/E are competitively priced. On what basis are you making your determination?

I am not a user of these modules, but these links may be helpful:
Pro/ENGINEER Tool Design Can create even the most complex single- and multiple-cavity molds.
Pro/ENGINEER Expert Moldbase Allows the toolmaker to work in a familiar 2D environment, while employing all the power and benefits of 3D.
Pro/ENGINEER Complete Mold Design Combines all the features of Tool Design and Expert Moldbase.

Visi-vero is worth a look at, pretty much specifically designed for tooling, both mould and press.

Not as powerful as some of the high end platforms but works well, based on
Parasolid modelling with some really nice features, and much cheaper.

As with anything get in a demo and make them use what you have to use not just show you some slick presentation with all the problems ironed out, what any system cannot do is often more important than what it can and they never show you that.
