Most structurally sound aluminum chair base?

I want to by an aluminum chair base to replace to current one on my computer chair.

There are some chairs which 1) the legs remain relatively straight and parallel to the ground 2) the legs are arched or angled relative to the ground.

Here is a picture of number 1:

Which type of base would be the strongest and least likely to break?

I am leaning towards the greater arched based.

BTW I am not an engineer. So keep that in mind when giving an answer please.

Not enough information. What exactly is the material? Who fabricated it? How did they fabricate it? How are the casters and chair post going to be attached?

If the leg sections are of the same material and section properties, I would go with the higher arch.

my 2c ... if both legs (straight and arched) have the same cross-section there won't be much dfference, ie i don't think the arch will be significant (it not like it's a 90deg arc(on a leg), more like a 5deg arc). straight would be much easier (and cheaper) to buy. if you go with the arched, consider the maunfacturing stresses that remain in the leg ... it's not like these things are stress relieved.

If I were designing the legs for safety at minimum weight, I would go for straight ones. Isn't a shorter leg going to be stronger?

Of course, this makes the seat post longer and weaker. I forgot to ask the OP about this.
